Vatikin asked:
I went to the doctors today to have acupuncture for a nerve issue which resulted from a lesion on my brain. Just after the needles were in my body i started to shake, get hot and cold flushes i threw up and fainted. I now have extreme pain and a headache in the left side of my upper body (this is the side that my nerve issue was on). Is this normal? if not what should i do from here?
Any help would be really appreciated as i have been really sick for 3 weeks now.

There are no after effects to Acupuncture, and intense pain is not normal if thats how you are feeling maybe the therapy was not successful. I would suggest you contact your acupuncture therapist.
Take care and God bless.
The after effects of acupuncture are not supposed to be bad. I had many treatments after a car accident, and came out of the office each time feeling much better, and felt high on life.
What happened to you is not normal, and I wouldn’t do it again. I wonder if the doctor is experienced in acupuncture, and if he knew what he was doing and aware of your nerve damage. Was it a doctor? A medical degree is not required for this treatment. Did your original doctor recommend this person? Or was it your original doctor? I would ask him what he believes acupuncture can do for you.
There should not be any strong after affects from acupuncture. Was your doctor a licensed acupuncturist, or an MD/chiropractor. A licensed acupuncturist in the US has thousand of hours of training in Chinese medicine and acupuncture. MD’s and chiropractors can insert acupuncture needles through their licensing with as little as 100 hours of training in many states; this is a recipe for disaster. Without proper training, your doctor could have created a serious Qi imbalance. Qi reactions and fainting do occasional occur with acupuncture.
On the other hand, you were already suffering from a lesion on the brain which could also produce the same symptoms described, so it would be difficult to know for sure if it was a result of the acupuncture treatment.
In almost every state in the US, an acupuncturist must be licensed and must have attended a post graduate 4 year degree at an accredited Oriental Medical School, so it is misleading to say a ‘medical degree is unnecessary for this treatment’. An Oriental medical degree is necessary.
